On April 7, 2024, Google removed its search persons card, which was first introduced in 2020. By displaying their websites, social media accounts, and other relevant data, it functions similarly to our business card in the online sphere and enhances our online visibility.
Google sent me this mail today, and also to those with their Google search people card, with the title: “People cards are going away soon”.
The email sent to me is here:
“You’re receiving this email because you created a People on Google Search.
People cards were created to make it easier to highlight information about yourself on Google Search, like your websites and social profiles.
Even though people cards functioned as planned, we’ve discovered over the years that users weren’t benefiting from this feature as we had thought. The people cards function will be decommissioned on April 7, 2024, and adding new people cards or updating ones that already exist will no longer be feasible. Until May 7, 2024, you can download or store your stuff. Information will be removed after that date.
This modification solely impacts user cards on Google Search; it has no effect on other goods or services. As April 7th approaches, we’ll remind you once more. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please visit our Help Center. We appreciate your contributions to the Google Search community.
The Google Search team”
Here is a screenshot of what I received through that mail.
The forum discussion on X.
So, no new Google People Cards profiles will be created.
Along with that, they mentioned we could download our data through Google Takeout.
We can download the information before May 7.
This Google Search people card is currently available in India, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa, with an active selection of languages, either Hindi or English, based on your preferences.
